Even a pond bottom that looks smooth can hide rocks, roots, and soft spots. Once the pond is full, all that water presses the liner down onto whatever is underneath it. When the ground settles unevenly, hollow spots form, and the liner sags into them and gets worn thin over time.
UnderGuard geotextile underlayment puts a protective layer between your liner and the ground. It guards against punctures and tears and gives the liner a steadier base to rest on, so your pond keeps holding water year after year.
Once your pond is dug and the bottom is smoothed out, set the UnderGuard pieces out next to each other until the whole area is covered. Then spread your liner right over the top.
