Winter ice doesn’t just look dangerous — it is. Expanding ice puts enormous pressure on dock pilings, boat hulls, and floating structures, causing costly damage that only reveals itself when spring thaw arrives. The Outdoor Water Solutions Ice-Away Dock De-icer keeps a steady circle of open water around your dock all season long, stopping the damage before it ever starts.
Powered by a high-speed 3,450 RPM motor and a patented cone diffuser design, the Ice-Away draws warm water up from the bottom and pushes it to the surface — preventing ice formation and protecting your investment through the harshest winters.
Everything you need is included with the Outdoor Water Solutions De-Icer
On the left, ice has formed and is pressing against the dock structure. On the right, the Ice-Away is running — keeping a clear, open-water zone around the dock all winter long.
Drag to compare.
Twice the Speed of Traditional De-icers - Most de-icers run at 1,725 RPM. The Ice-Away runs at 3,450 RPM — double the speed, double the water movement, and a larger open-water zone when temperatures drop fast.
Available in 1/2 HP and 1 HP - The 1/2 HP handles most residential docks and boat slips. Step up to the 1 HP for larger dock areas or commercial marina applications that need maximum coverage.
115V and 230V Options - Works with standard household current or a dedicated 230V line — no rewiring needed, just match it to your existing electrical setup.
Ready to Install — Mounting Ropes Included - Ships with two 10 ft sling ropes for easy dock mounting. No extra hardware needed — hang it at the right depth and plug it in.
Works for Docks, Boat Slips, Marinas, and Ponds - One unit protects a residential dock. Multiple units can cover a full marina or commercial waterfront — any freshwater application where ice build-up causes damage.
Patented Cone Diffuser Design - Directs warm water upward in a consistent, circular pattern — keeping every dock piling, boat hull, and submerged structure within its radius fully protected.
Built for a Full Winter Season - The sealed 4-inch submersible motor is water-cooled and built to run all winter without overheating. UL Recognized and CSA Certified.
Made in the USA — 3-Year Warranty - Manufactured in the United States and backed by a 3-year warranty — built to last through the hardest freezes.
Six Cord Lengths for Any Setup - Available in 25 ft, 50 ft, 100 ft, 150 ft, 200 ft, and 250 ft. There’s a cord length that works no matter where your power source is.

Water at the bottom of a pond, lake, or marina stays above freezing even when the surface is locked in ice. The Ice-Away taps into that warm layer, pulling it up to the surface through a high-velocity cone diffuser that spreads water in a wide, even pattern.
At 3,450 RPM — at least twice the speed of traditional de-icers — it moves up to 500 gallons per minute. The result is a large, reliable open-water zone that holds through even the coldest nights.

The Ice-Away’s open-water zone depends on depth — deeper water holds more heat, so deeper installations produce larger ice-free areas.
*Actual open-water coverage can vary with temperature, ice thickness, water movement, installation angle, and local conditions.

The Ice-Away uses a hermetically sealed, 100% water-cooled motor. Surrounding water naturally cools the unit and lubricates internal bearings — eliminating internal oil entirely and guaranteeing zero risk of hazardous spills around your dock, marina, or fishery.
1. Rope Mounting Points — Two included 10 ft suspension ropes attach here, allowing the Ice-Away to be suspended beside a dock, piling, lift, or slip and aimed toward the area that needs protection.
2. Patented Cone Diffuser — Directs 500 GPM of flow outward toward the protection area rather than concentrating it directly above the unit. Engineered specifically for the Ice-Away’s 3,450 RPM circulation system.
3. Foul-Resistant Propeller — Rigid propeller turns at 3,450 RPM to move 500 GPM while reducing flex and minimizing weed wrapping. Periodic inspection is still recommended.
4. Two Voltage Options — Both 115V and 230V models deliver the same 500 GPM. The 115V draws 8.1 amps; the 230V draws 4.3 amps. Choose the voltage that matches your installation site.
5. Hardened Drive Shaft — 17-4 PH hardened stainless steel shaft transfers power from the motor to the propeller while resisting wear and corrosion.
6. Sand Slinger — Stainless steel slinger directs abrasive particles away from the motor’s entry points, reducing exposure to suspended sand during operation.
7. Laser Welded Stator Assembly — Laser-welded construction seals the stator assembly against water intrusion, protecting internal electrical components during submerged use.
8. Stainless Steel End Bells — Upper and lower stainless steel end bells support the motor housing and add corrosion resistance at both ends of the assembly.
9. Class F Insulation — Class F magnet wire and insulation built to handle elevated operating temperatures inside the motor system.
10. 304L Stainless Steel Shell — Exterior shell resists rust and corrosion throughout the motor’s underwater service life.
11. Kingsbury Style Thrust Bearing — Carries the axial load of the rotating assembly. The 1/2 HP configuration carries a 700 lb internal thrust-load rating — a bearing specification, not a water thrust output claim.

Electrical planning: Confirm available voltage, circuit capacity, connections, and required groundfault protection before installation. Consult an electrician when the conductor sizing, or voltage drop planning is uncertain.
Maintenance and operation: Periodically inspect the power cord, propeller, cone diffuser, and suspension ropes for weed buildup, physical damage, or wear. Disconnect power before touching, inspecting, or repositioning the unit. The motor must remain properly submerged while operating.
It is designed for localized ice management around docks, pilings, boat lifts, slips, and defined waterfront structures. It is best suited for protecting targeted assets where seasonal structure removal is impractical. Note: It is not intended to clear an entire pond or lake body. Large footprints, shallow water, or severe arctic freezes may require multiple units.
It draws warmer subsurface water upward via a high-speed propeller and redirects it outward using a patented cone diffuser. This continuous kinetic circulation stops surface ice from locking onto structures. Additionally, the open-water pocket allows for atmospheric gas exchange, which helps prevent winter fish kill in ponds.
Both options deliver the exact same 500 GPM circulation. 115V (8.1 Amps / 890 Watts): Best for standard residential shoreline outlets. 230V (4.3 Amps / 845 Watts): Draws half the amperage, making it ideal for long power runs without severe voltage drop. Cord Lengths: Available in 25 ft, 50 ft, or 100 ft submersible-grade options.
Suspend the unit 4 to 5 feet below the surface using the included 10-foot ropes, angling the directional cone toward the structure needing protection. Coverage expands roughly 8 feet in diameter for every 1 foot of operating depth: 4 ft Depth: ~32 ft open-water diameter (ideal for single slips and bulkheads) 5 ft Depth: ~40 ft open-water diameter (ideal for double slips and marina walkways)
Maintenance: The oil-free motor requires no fluid changes. Periodically check the cord, prop, and ropes for physical wear or weed wrapping. Always disconnect power before touching or servicing the unit. Safety: Moving water creates thin, unstable ice surrounding the open perimeter. Clearly mark the area and keep people, pets, and vehicles away.
